Tester/Quality Assurance Analyst

We are currently seeking a full time, experienced Tester/Quality Assurance Analyst that will be part of a team working on all phases of testing as part of GlobalSCAPE’s Software Development Life Cycle.

Job Responsibilities:

  • All phases of testing as part of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Document test cases efficiently from requirements
  • Document all findings, work with development to resolve defects and retest
  • Identify areas of risk to ensure appropriate testing is completed within the given timeframe
  • Provide QA perspective and review during specification and design phases in the product life cycle
  • Other duties as required

Experience:

  • Formal Testing background as part of a QA department
  • Thorough understanding of testing methodology and ability to develop and test products derived from requirements
  • Tool experience: TestDirector, StarTeam, or similar preferred
  • Experience in testing Windows and Web based applications
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and able to work independently and as a member of a high performance team
  • Efficient in handling multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Able to identify and resolve difficult problems within defined areas of responsibility
  • Ability to analyze or develop processes and suggest improvements effectively
  • Two-year degree or equivalent experience

Preferred:

  • Experience with test automation
  • Familiarity with FTP, FTPS, and HTTP protocols
  • Experience with Visual Basic scripting and/or Perl scripting

Lead Developer/Architect

We are currently looking to fill the position of a Lead Developer/Architect in our San Antonio office. We seek intelligent individuals who are great Windows programmers that can also lead small teams of like minded developers. The successful candidate will have a strong background in the design and development of complex software systems and experience serving as a team lead. GlobalSCAPE provides an excellent opportunity for experience and growth.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities focus on documenting requirements and ensuring they are being met by leading and reviewing analysis, design, and programming deliverables. Necessary skills include:

  • Work with Product Management, users and stakeholders, to determine specific user needs and translate business cases and high-level descriptions into system requirements/changes.
  • Produce functional design requirements describing changes required to support those needs.
  • Review work of others from both a functional and a development perspective to ensure high quality products are being delivered.
  • Dedicated to exceeding quality standards and providing technical services and support of the highest caliber to customers.
  • Validate QA test plans.
  • Design and implement effective and easy-to-maintain Visual C++ code for Windows applications in a timely manner.
  • Clearly and concisely document design choices for developed code.
  • Assist with the development of training and procedures documentation.
  • Clearly and frequently communicate vertically, laterally and downward in order to ensure proper understanding of tasks, provide status updates, and avoid errors.
  • Assess and manage risk, change, and timelines for assigned work.
  • Resolve highly complex technical issues and conduct advanced research.

Requirements:

  • B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent, or 4+ years in professional software development field.
  • 4+ years experience in designing and writing Windows software, including Client/Server applications, advanced GUI applications, and/or NT Services.
  • 2+ years experience in requirements gathering and documentation, including GUI and workflow design.
  • Extremely proficient in OOP design and development using Visual C++/MFC/Win32/COM/STL and related programming concepts and practices.
  • Ability to lead others on team-oriented software development projects.
  • Strong problem-solving, design, coding, and communication skills.
  • Expert knowledge of the Windows architecture, TCP/IP and multithreaded programming for developing enterprise-class software applications.
  • Experience in developing applications to support Unicode.
  • Experience in developing applications using security and communication technologies, including: communication protocols (HTTP/S,FTP/S,SSH,SMTP), encryption (SSL/certificates, PGP), authentication (AD/LDAP/SSO), and compression algorithms.
  • Experience in debugging applications using a variety of tools, including post-mortem crash dump analysis.

Level 3 Enterprise Solutions Analyst

We are currently seeking a Level 3 Enterprise Solutions Analyst in our San Antonio office.  This position is responsible for, but not limited to, assisting customers with product installation, setup, configuration and basic/advanced troubleshooting.

Qualifications

  • Expert problem-solver. Sorts through complex issues and conducts comparative analysis of multiple solutions.
  • Extensive PC, Web site and network experience required.
    • Thorough knowledge of latest Windows operating systems, including Windows 2003 Server, Windows XP and Windows 2000.
    • Strong knowledge of Active Directory, LDAP, ODBC, SQL, IIS, MSDE and SQL.
    • Familiarity with PGP, SSH and HTTPS security practices.
    • Familiarity with mainframe and Linux/*nix systems.
    • Strong Internet and enterprise network connectivity troubleshooting skills.
    • FTP and Web server administration and client setup skills required.
    • Proficiency in scripting required.
  • Dedicated to exceeding quality standards and providing technical services and support of the highest caliber to customers.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
